The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2026. The preceptor will be responsible for teaching Hindi, Urdu, and Indo-Persian at all levels, and across multiple genres and time periods. The position is for three years, renewable for a term of up to five years, contingent on performance, enrollments, curricular need, position availability, and divisional dean authorization. Basic Qualifications The successful applicant should have experience in teaching Hindi, Urdu, and Indo-Persian in a university context, and at all levels. Native or near-native fluency and/or expertise in Hindi, Urdu, and Indo-Persian along with graduate-level training in Hindi, Urdu, and Indo Persian and related fields of study (such as South Asian area studies, literature, religion, or linguistics) is also required. Additional Qualifications Applicant should ideally have a record of conducting research in India and/or Pakistan, as well as knowledge of other South Asian languages.
