Job Description

Art Signals' Pottery Instructors must be skillful potters with experience in hand building, wheel throwing and glazing techniques. Candidates are expected to provide knowledgeable and supportive instruction to adults, teens, children and those with varying levels of ability. Need to be able to lead weekly classes with suggestions regarding specific skills and/or techniques, as well as teach and monitor the proper and safe use of tools, materials and equipment. In addition to classes, instructors teach private lessons, wheel throwing parties, workshops and camps. Staffing needs include daytime and evening shifts, weekends and special events. Position is part time to full time, requiring more hours in the summer. Prefer local candidates due to the part time nature of the job.
ONLY HIRING FOR YEAR ROUND POSITIONS, PLEASE NO SUMMER-ONLY CANDIDATES.
Instructors will maintain the cleanliness and organization of the ceramic studio, distribute materials and supplies, and guide participants to have fun, while encouraging and promoting success. Employees will also perform back-up work for pottery, such as loading and firing kilns, making clay and glazes, equipment and studio maintenance. These responsibilities include preparing finished pieces for pickup, answering the phone, payment transactions, booking parties/private lessons and cleaning the studio. Candidates must live within a reasonable (~45) minute drive from Maynard, MA
