Private Voice Instructor Description:
Watertown Children's Theatre at the Mosesian Center for the Arts is seeking a school-year private voice instructor beginning in September 2026. The private voice instructor will provide individual lessons to singers (grade 4-adult) for 9 week sessions in fall, winter and spring. Summer lessons may also be an option, depending on availability. Voice instructors report to the WCT Artistic Director, as a teaching artist within the WCT performing arts education program at the Mosesian Center for the Arts (MCA). This is a 1099 contract position. Pay rate is $60/hr (negotiable) and includes some hours for prep.
Qualifications:
This position requires: Availability to teach Mondays, 3:30-8 pm (some flexibility on start/end times) on site at MCA. Ability to guide singers with a focus on healthy vocal production and artistic expression Curriculum that will address fundamentals of sustainable vocal production, including alignment & breath management, tone production, diction, expression, musicality, and body awareness Ability to select age-appropriate repertoire for singers of all genders within musical theater, pop, and/or classical repertoire depending on the needs/goals of the singer Piano skills for proficient lesson apaniment (scales, basic chords, ability to lead a vocal warmup) Ability to coach singers on audition techniques, performance skills, and acting choices Knowledge of the changing adolescent voice (including transgender/gender non-conforming voices) to developmentally appropriate vocal exercises, repertoire, andmunication Regularmunication with parents regarding their child's progress, scheduling needs, etc. Ability to prepare singers for optional recitals (December & June) and coordinate dress rehearsals Curation and/or creation of resources to support singers outside of lessons (audio tracks, resources, etc.) Piano apaniment skills (not required) are a plus, with additionalpensation available if you are able to apany recitals Clearmunication with WCT Artistic Director and other education staff regarding scheduling, registration, and recital planning
