DSP Artist Mentor - Art Certificate Program

Creative Trails is looking for an artist mentor for the Art Certificate Program! The Art Certificate Program is a non-profit alternative art space for artists with intellectual uniqueness located in downtown Biddeford. We are a diverse, unique, and exciting program, looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate artist mentor/DSP to work with incredibly talented folks as they pursue their passion for art while developing their skills and strengths in a variety of areas. The Artist Mentor/DSP (direct support professional) is responsible for supporting individuals in an average of a 3:1(staff) ratio. The artist mentor will support individuals to pursue their artistic passions, to create artwork to be shown in a gallery setting, and to explore community connections based on their interests. The ideal candidate will be a fine artist themselves, with a background or interest in art education. Ideal candidates will have experience in or be comfortable with facilitating art programming to small groups, and will have well rounded knowledge of visual arts. An art or art education degree is preferred, but not required. No DSP experience required - we will provide DSP (direct support professional) training!

Schedule:

This is a full time position, Monday through Friday from 8:45am-4pm, with occasional evening and weekend events. Rate of pay is $16.50/hour.

Creative Trails has been around for over 18 years as the community support program of Support Solutions which is a private, non-profit organization. Support Solutions has been providing services to individuals with intellectual and mental health challenges in central and southern Maine since 1997. We provide our Direct Support Professional staff with paid training. To be considered a

GREAT CANDIDATE

you must:

• Have a high school diploma or GED
• Willingness to undergo background checks in accordance with local law/regulations
• Have an acceptable driving record and background checks (including criminal, driving, the OIG, DHHS, APS, and other governmental agencies)
• Have a valid MAINE driver's license and a reliable insured vehicle
• Be able to go to the Support Solutions office in Auburn to complete new hire paperwork and orientation training.
• Have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
• Specific skill set (through education/life experience) matching program need.
• Personable and able to work within a customer service framework.
• Refined and well-organized multi-tasking skills.
• Good moral character -- demonstrated by three positive references.
