Faculty Appointment Type Non-Tenure Track Term (if applicable) 9 month Begin Date of Appointment 08/10/2026 Exempt/Non-Exempt Exempt General Function The Artist-in-Residence is a non-tenure track faculty position appointed on the basis of outstanding professional attainments, creative accomplishments, and recognition in his or her specific field and renders specified service to the University including lectures, performances, demonstrations, master classes, and consultations. Description of Primary Duties Teaching applied cello performance and pedagogy at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as lower string methods. Recruiting and mentoring cello students pursuing degrees in performance and music education following core principles of cultural competence, community engagement, and ethical leadership An active commitment to recruiting and building the cello studio Depending on expertise, the candidate may also teach additional courses Coaching chamber music ensembles and other courses meeting the strengths of applicant and needs of department Perform as Artist-Teacher of Cello, including faculty chamber music projects Minimum Acceptable Qualifications The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Artist-in-Residence are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook.
