Job About Lil' Filmmakers, Inc:
Lil' Filmmakers, Inc is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth through the arts of film and media. Our mission is to provide a supportive and creative environment where young people can explore their talents, develop critical skills, and produce meaningful media projects that reflect their voices and perspectives.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate, highly organized, and detail-oriented individual with a passion for education and outreach to join our team as a Teaching Artist. This role assists the program coordinator in executing a summer workshop series. The Lil' Filmmakers Summer Workshop Series is a hands-on, production-based program designed to equip participants with foundational and practical skills in storytelling, filmmaking, and digital image creation. Each workshop is structured to mirror a professional production environment, where participants focus on directing, storytelling, and creative decision-making, while a team of professional editors and photo assistants supports post-production and technical execution. Workshops run for 3 days (3 hours per day) and culminate in completed media projects.
Program Dates:
Narrative Teen (13-17): July 13, 14, 15 | 12:00PM - 3:00PM Documentary Teen (13-17): July 20, 21, 22 | 12:00PM - 3:00
PM Key Responsibilities:
Oversee a group of 12-15 young people in the storytelling, production, and post-production process. Design and deliver instructional content across all 3 workshop days Guide participants through story development, production planning, and creative execution Teach core concepts (storytelling, composition, lighting, sound, visual language) Facilitate group collaboration and assign participant roles Provide real-time direction and feedback during production Lead critique sessions and final project reviews Ensure alignment with program mission and learning outcomes Experience /
Skills Qualifications:
At least 4 years of experience in film (eg. filming, editing, camera operations, producing) High school diploma or equivalency Experience working with youth in an educational or mentorship capacity Passion for storytelling and an interest in sharing film knowledge with the next generation of filmmakers Ability to work with diverse individuals and communities Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience in social emotional learning (SEL) a plus About Lil' Filmmakers Lil' Filmmakers, Inc is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth through the arts of film and media.
