Our supplemental, multimedia-rich curriculum uplifts the untold contributions of AAPI, Latino/a and people of color, helping schools celebrate diversity in engaging, culturally responsive ways. We've built partnerships nationwide and are expanding our team of performers for the upcoming season. The Role We're seeking passionate performers, actors, and artists to bring our educational assemblies to life. As a School Yard Rap Artist, you'll perform original music, deliver high-energy assemblies, and inspire students with creativity, enthusiasm, and professionalism. This is a seasonal role (January-April) with potential future opportunities. All performers are hired as independent contractors (1099).

Perform Live Shows:

Deliver captivating performances at assemblies, musicals, concerts, and special events.

Learn Curriculum:

Master School Yard Rap's songs and scripts by the assigned learning deadline.

Audition:

Successfully audition and demonstrate readiness prior to being contracted.

Rehearse & Prepare:

Commit time to rehearsals to ensure polished, professional performances.

Audience Engagement:

Build strong connections with students and staff through energy and presence.

Travel:

Be available to travel to schools and venues across the region.

Professional Representation:

Uphold SYR's reputation through punctuality, communication, and professionalism.

Brand Awareness:

Hand out promotional materials and represent SYR at conferences and events.

Team Collaboration:

Work alongside artists, DJs, and staff to create impactful shows.

Experience & Background Qualifications:

Performance Talent:

Background in music, acting, or spoken word; strong stage presence.

Energy & Adaptability:

Comfortable performing in fast-paced, diverse school environments.

Team Player:

Collaborative and committed to the success of the whole production.

Professionalism:

Reliable, punctual, and committed to deadlines (song learning, rehearsals, shows).

Flexibility:

Open to varying schedules and travel.

Work Status:

Must be able to work as a 1099 independent contractor.
