Purpose The purpose of the Artist‑in‑Residence (AIR) position is to integrate accessible, arts‑based practices into the educational, experiential, and community‑engaged mission of the School of Social Work. Through curriculum support, workshops, performances, and collaborative initiatives, the AIR advances trauma‑informed learning, student well‑being, interdisciplinary engagement, and innovative pedagogy while grounding creative activities in evidence‑informed and assessable practices. Responsibilities Curricular & Educational Support Collaborates with faculty and Academic Affairs leadership to support development of arts‑informed curricular initiatives, including exploratory planning for certificates, electives, or interest‑based courses related to music, performance, and social work practice. Assists with the integration of arts‑based perspectives into existing courses and co‑curricular learning opportunities, ensuring accessibility for students without prior arts experience. Develops instructional resources, workshop materials, and learning activities that complement faculty‑led coursework. Experiential & Workshop Programming Designs and facilitates experiential workshops utilizing music, songwriting, performance, and visual arts to support reflection, narrative development, and student engagement. Develops low‑barrier creative activities that promote participation, collaboration, and personal growth within an educational setting. Coordinates logistics, materials, and evaluation for workshops offered to students, faculty, and staff. Cross‑Departmental & Global Collaboration Builds and maintains collaborative partnerships with university units (e.g., Butler School of Music) to support interdisciplinary programming and experiential learning opportunities. Coordinates with faculty and Global Engagement staff to support arts‑related curricular and co‑curricular components of international programs and study trips. Assists in developing follow‑up programming to share learning outcomes with the broader School of Social Work community. Performance & Community Engagement Develops and coordinates performance‑based events and showcases that support community connection, student engagement, and experiential learning. Partners with students, staff, and faculty to plan inclusive, student‑centered events that foster creativity, visibility, and school spirit. Supports performances as educational demonstrations aligned with the School's mission and values. Program Infrastructure, Assessment, & Documentation Collaborates with faculty and subject‑matter experts to ensure arts‑based activities align with relevant literature and best practices. Assists with basic data collection and assessment efforts (e.g., surveys, participation metrics) to evaluate program reach and outcomes. Maintains documentation, reports, and summaries to support planning, continuous improvement, and future funding opportunities. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Music, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Education, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience. Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating arts‑based, educational, or community‑engaged programming (e.g., workshops, performances, courses, or public events). Experience working collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, or community partners in an academic, nonprofit, or community setting. Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage diverse audiences, explain creative concepts to non‑specialists, and collaborate across disciplines. Experience coordinating or supporting programs, events, or initiatives that involve multiple stakeholders and timelines. Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and priorities. Commitment to accessible, and culturally responsive practices in educational or community settings. Preferred Qualifications Graduate coursework or degree in Music, Social Work, Education, Arts Therapies, Public Humanities, or a related field. Experience developing or supporting arts‑informed curriculum or co‑curricular learning in higher education. Experience with interdisciplinary or cross‑departmental collaboration, particularly in academic settings. Familiarity with arts‑based research, evaluation, or assessment methods. Experience supporting student engagement, wellness, or reflective practice initiatives. Experience with international, global, or community‑based programs. Proficiency with basic survey tools, documentation, and reporting related to program outcomes. Salary Range $60,000 + depending on qualifications Working Conditions Standard office conditions with periodic evening or weekend hours to support workshops, performances, classes, or special events; majority of time spent interacting with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners. This position is based in Austin, TX and requires an on‑campus presence to support instructional, experiential, and community‑based activities. Work Shift Monday

• Employment Eligibility:
