Job Description

Violin/Viola Faculty Teaching Artist Status:
Part-time non-exempt
Pay:
Hourly, commensurate with experience and training Mileage reimbursement may be available.
Description of School:
The Wausau Conservatory of Music, a regional school committed to music education, helps students of all ages and abilities explore their potential, guided by exceptional, skilled faculty in a welcoming and accepting environment. WCM was founded in 1981 and currently serves over 900 students annually through music lessons, group ensembles, classes, camps, and festivals. WCM Provides A studio and at least one piano per faculty member, and a wide variety of rooms for ensembles, and classes Access to the 150-seat Concert Hall and recording equipment A budget for instructional materials and funds to assist with professional memberships Flexible teaching schedule Administrative and fundraising support Reduced tuition for all students who qualify
Responsibilities:
Teaching private lessons. Teaching hours to include afternoons and evenings Teaching group classes, as necessary Variety of teaching styles, with a focus on teaching the Suzuki method (with proper certification) Help with community outreach programs and opportunities, including performing in faculty recitals, and leading programs Maintain responsible communication with families and students Be actively involved with the registration team in the recruitment, retention, and maintenance of your studio Teaching a minimum of 4 weeks over the summer session is highly recommended both for the consistency of your students' musical development and for the retention of your studio numbers Participate in Conservatory events: Open House and student recitals, etc. Perform general faculty responsibilities according to the guidelines listed in the Faculty Handbook, including registration paperwork, attendance records, and faculty meetings Complete student evaluation forms each semester Complete faculty evaluation forms per the
Executive Director Qualifications:
Masters of Music in Music Education or Violin/Viola Performance degree preferred. Suzuki teacher training (or willingness to be trained) is highly desired Previous teaching experience required. 2+ years of teaching private studio preferred The ability to work with students of all ages, especially young students Ability to communicate effectively to parents regarding events, recitals and assignments Must be able to pass a background check Dedication to working in a collaborative professional environment in a first-rate Community music school
Compensation:
Hourly wage is based on experience and training. Mileage reimbursement may be available. Tuition reimbursement may be available for Suzuki training. Professional memberships paid for Accepting rolling applications, priority will be given to those who apply before July 15 and to those who can begin in August 2026.
