Job Description

Audio & Visual Technician Position Overview:
The Audio & Visual Technician plays a vital role in bringing our synagogue's services and programs to life. By managing and operating our audio-visual systems, this person ensures that every worship service, holiday celebration, and special event is a meaningful and seamless experience for our congregation. The Technician works closely with the Cantor, staff, and volunteers to create a welcoming, inspiring, and technically smooth environment.
Hours & Schedule:
    Weekly Shabbat Services:
    ○ Friday Evening - 6:00 PM ○ Saturday Morning - 10:00 AM (sometimes 9am and 11am)
      High Holy Days:
      S'lichot, Rosh Hashanah, and Yom Kippur
        Special Services & Festivals:
        Occasional services throughout the year
          Preparation & Rehearsals:
          Collaboration with the Cantor and staff leading up to major holidays and events
          Key Responsibilities:
          • Take full ownership of all audio-visual elements of services and events, ensuring high production quality and smooth execution.
          • Operate and maintain all equipment, including microphones, speakers, sound boards, projectors, display devices, camera systems, and streaming platforms (Zoom, Vimeo Livestream).
          • Monitor and adjust bimah sound, ensuring clergy, Cantor, and participants are heard clearly, naturally, and beautifully.
          • Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues before they affect services or events.
          • Collaborate with the Cantor and staff to anticipate technical needs, optimize worship experiences, and enhance congregational engagement.
          • Set up, test, and disassemble equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring all systems are functioning flawlessly.
          • Manage inventory of equipment, cables, and accessories to prevent shortages or disruptions.
          • Mentor and support other technicians when needed, maintaining a culture of technical excellence.
          • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace and storage areas.

          • Strong technical knowledge of audio-visual systems and live streaming platforms
          • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently
          • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
          • Strong communication and collaboration skills

          $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
