Job Description

Job Summary Under the direction of the AV Systems Assistant Manager, will serve as lead AV Technician on concert nights, movie nights, cirque shows and other staged shows and public events. Could be called upon to serve as event lead with minimal oversight from senior technicians. Perform a variety of set up and tear down operations for stage, sound, lighting and other general stage duties. May serve as sound engineer for special events. May also assist AV Systems Manager in troubleshooting and installing commercial audio equipment. Unique Job Requirements Must be available to work night and weekend shifts. Must be comfortable climbing and working at heights up to 30 feet. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. Job Tasks Set up and operate sound and lighting systems for live events. Act as event lead when required. Serve as part of event crew team. Interface with clients and entertainment on site as event requires. Adjust lighting fixtures as needed for events. Execute the set up, tear down, and storage of equipment following organizational procedures. Assist with commercial audio installations and troubleshooting. Other duties as assigned. Relationships (Internal) All levels of Santa Cruz Seaside Company team members. Relationships (External) Guest and vendor interaction.
Qualifications:
Training and Experience 2+ years live sound mixing experience with digital consoles from Yamaha, Midas, and similar. Familiarity with lighting equipment, consoles and basic lighting concepts. Q-Sys Level 1 is a plus. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of proper use and handling of basic hand tools. Ability to follow verbal and written directions. Ability to follow safety practices and proper lifting procedures. Knowledge of both stage directions and cardinal (compass) directions. Ability to use various stage and lighting equipment. Ability to identify hardware (nuts, bolts, screws etc.). Ability to work as part of a team, including providing clear instruction when acting as a lead. Ability to climb lighting truss and perform tasks (bending, stretching, pulling and repairing) while on truss. Ability to work independently to complete projects. Ability to keep information confidential. Physical Requirements Able to lift 70 pounds from ground to waist height. Bi-manual dexterity. Able to stand and to walk for up to 8 hours at a time. Able to climb and work at heights up to 30 feet. Able to hear normal conversation, read instructions and write documentation. Able to move equipment which would include pushing, pulling, lifting, stooping and shoving. Able to work in a noisy environment.
