We host readings, live performances, and livestreamed events that celebrate both established and emerging voices. We're looking for a professional, hands-on Event AV Technician to ensure every event — in-person and virtual — runs seamlessly. This is an ideal role for someone who's technically skilled, composed under pressure, and takes pride in delivering high-quality audio and visual experiences. If you love solving problems in real time and keeping things running smoothly no matter what, we'd love to meet you. What You'll Do Set up, test, and operate AV equipment for live and livestreamed events Manage livestreams through Substack and ensure strong video and audio quality Balance sound, adjust lighting, and fine-tune visuals for optimal audience experience Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and confidently — even under pressure Maintain and organize all AV equipment, ensuring readiness for upcoming events Coordinate with event hosts and performers to meet technical needs Assist in post-event wrap-up, including equipment breakdown and data management Ensure a polished, professional event atmosphere at every performance Who You Are A dependable, can-do professional who thrives in fast-paced live environments Calm, resourceful, and confident when tech glitches arise — you find solutions, not problems Detail-oriented and able to juggle multiple priorities with ease Clear and professional communicator with strong teamwork skills Qualifications 1+ year of hands-on AV production experience (live event or venue experience preferred) Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with:
Audio:
microphones, speakers, digital mixing consoles.
Video:
projectors, screens, monitors.
Lighting:
stage lighting. Experience with livestreaming platforms and podcast setups a plus Proficient with Mac systems; familiarity with MovieRecorder, Tricaster, and HeloPlus a strong advantage Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Comfortable managing equipment setup, cables, and occasional lifting
Schedule & Compensation Part-time:
Approx. 12 hours per week
Schedule:
Primarily evenings and weekends (based on event schedule)
Pay:
$25-$30/hour, depending on experience
