Operations Manager - Audio Visual & Event TechnologyJob Summary The Operations Manager supports venue leadership in the daily management of in-house AV and event technology operations within a hotel or conference environment. This role is responsible for overseeing event execution, team leadership, equipment logistics, and client satisfaction. The Operations Manager ensures the seamless setup, operation, and breakdown of audio visual equipment for meetings, conferences, and live events, while maintaining operational efficiency, safety compliance, and high service standards. This position also leads and develops both hourly and salaried team members, driving performance, accountability, and a strong service culture. Key Responsibilities Lead the execution of all phases of event production, ensuring exceptional service delivery for clients, guests, and internal stakeholders Oversee event setup (load-in), operation, and breakdown (strike) in a fast-paced hospitality environment Manage AV inventory, ensuring equipment quality, organization, maintenance, and availability Supervise, train, and develop event technology staff, fostering growth and high performance Support budgeting and financial management, including labor planning, cost control, and revenue optimization Coordinate with external vendors for equipment rentals and labor, ensuring service quality and reliability Ensure accurate and timely event billing, purchase orders, and vendor invoice processing Provide hands-on technical support for audio, video, lighting, and hybrid event solutions as needed Collaborate with hotel leadership and attend operational meetings to align on event execution and guest experience Maintain knowledge of emerging AV technologies, event trends, and production best practices Enforce safety protocols, company policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) Leadership & Team Management Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard AV and event staff Assign and prioritize work schedules based on event needs Coach, mentor, and evaluate employee performance Address employee concerns, resolve conflicts, and implement disciplinary actions when necessary Promote a collaborative, service-driven team culture aligned with hospitality standards Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum 2+ years of experience in audio visual or event technology within hotels, resorts, or conference venues Minimum 2+ years of leadership or management experience Strong understanding of AV systems, event production workflows, and hospitality operations Core Skills & Competencies Audio Visual (AV) Operations Management Hotel & Conference Event Production Team Leadership & Staff Development Budgeting, Forecasting & Cost Control Vendor Management & Sub-Rentals Coordination Client Relations & Guest Experience Excellence Event Billing & Financial Administration Technical Troubleshooting (Audio, Video, Lighting) Hybrid & Virtual Event Technology Logistics, Scheduling & Inventory Management Strong Communication & Interpersonal Skills Attention to Detail & Organizational Excellence Additional Requirements Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules Professional appearance and strong customer service orientation Proficiency with computer systems, event management software, and AV technologies Commitment to safety standards and continuous improvement
