Job Summary:
The Senior AV Technician is responsible for the installation, programming support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of advanced audio-visual and smart home systems in high-end residential environments. This role requires deep technical expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to deliver a white-glove experience to discerning clients. The Senior AV Technician serves as a technical leader in the field and a mentor to junior technicians. Duties and Responsibilities:
Install, configure, program, and service advanced residential AV, CCTV, and smart home systems, including whole-home audio/video, home theaters, media rooms, outdoor AV, lighting, climate, shading, security, and networking integrations. Perform system testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and client walkthroughs to ensure optimal system performance, user satisfaction, and timely resolution of technical issues. Read and interpret system designs, schematics, and floor plans while collaborating with project managers, designers, and other trades to ensure seamless project execution. Provide on-site leadership by directing junior technicians, maintaining quality standards and project timelines, and accurately documenting installations, service work, and system updates. Deliver exceptional customer service through professional communication, attention to detail, and respect for client homes and privacy. Follow safety procedures and keep the job site clean, organized, and hazard-free, including thorough clean-up at the end of each project and workday. Perform additional duties as required to support evolving business needs. Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant certifications are a plus. Extensive experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting residential AV, smart home, control, structured wiring, and alarm systems; Honeywell Vista and Pro Series experience preferred. Control4 programming experience preferred. Strong knowledge of AV technologies, IP networking fundamentals (including VLANs, PoE, switches, and Wi-Fi), and safe use of AV test equipment, hand tools, and power tools. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong communication and collaboration skills. Experience supporting luxury or custom residential clients preferred. Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite and industry-related software. Pass a drug screen and background check requirements. Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record and ongoing compliance with SafeTouch's fleet driving policy. Bilingual skills are a plus. Physical Requirements:
Work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions, including attics, crawl spaces, roofs, and uneven or slippery surfaces. Stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and safely ascend/descend stairs or ladders for extended periods. Lift, carry, and move equipment and materials up to 50 pounds. Safely perform physically demanding tasks such as digging, drilling, cutting, and sawing. Operate hand tools, power equipment, technology, and heavy machinery safely, with adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity. Read and review documents on electronic devices and in hard copy, observe details at close range, and accurately exchange information in person, by phone, and electronically. 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. Overtime as business needs require. Participate in an on-call rotation, with a $75 stipend per on-call period. Travel:
