General Information Work Location:
Bradenton Area Convention Center- 1 Haben Boulevard, Palmetto
FL 34221
Work Hours:
15-25hrs per week, Varies to support events including nights and weekends.
Expected Starting Hourly Range:
$17.36 - $21.70 General Information To perform routine janitorial duties and/or assist in the set-up, tear-down and cleanup of furniture, equipment for events held primarily at the Bradenton Area Convention Center, The Powel Crosley Estate, and/or the Premier Sports Campus. Position will work flexible schedules including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight shifts. Working Conditions Indoors/Outdoors; high noise environment, hands on objects, tools, or controls. Hazardous equipment, standing, lifting, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping, climbing, carrying up to 50 lbs. alone, 100 lbs. with assistance. Overnight assignments. Ability to adapt to extreme temperatures, such as working in outdoor areas that are not climate controlled. Performance review takes place after 90 days, which includes assessment for potential to advance to Event Technician II (OPS). Job Description Essential Duties These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position. Assists with set-ups, teardowns, and clean-up prior to, during and at the end of events. Will be trained to set up or build portable dance floors, stages/risers, basketball courts, telescopic seating, sports fields, team benches, flags, sandbags, goals, as needed. May set up displays, conference rooms, etc. Assists in repair and replacement of portable lighting, sound and electrical equipment, goal nets, goal posts, and benches, etc. used for events. Communicates clearly, effectively and tactfully, including understanding and following instructions, procedures, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned, including participation in emergency or disaster response activities, as required and consistent with the employee's qualifications, essential job functions, and applicable federal and Florida law. Minimum Qualifications Must be 17 years of age or older. More Familiarity with small power tools and equipment used in set-ups and tear-downs associated with events desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of work hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with materials and equipment used in work performed. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Ability to perform physical movements necessary for job assigned, i. e., bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing, etc. Visual acuity and ability to identify colors, i. e., color coded electrical wiring, etc. Sufficient hearing to be able to identify levels of sound necessary for working with sound equipment. Ability to work in extreme temperatures as needed.
