  • Part-time The Video Services Technician is responsible for audio/video support for all Aquarium exhibits, events, and helping implement new technology for the exhibits.
The Video Services Technician will perform a variety of tasks that require extensive knowledge of electronics and presentation setup and should possess experience/knowledge of "Live" show/presentation setup. The Video Services Technician may be required to work unusual hours at times and may be required to learn the use of new technologies. The Video Services Technician works closely with the Video Services Team and all levels of Mote staff and volunteers in addition to vendors and venue rental clients.
Responsibilities:
  • Support the operations of Mote Science Education Aquarium public exhibits (as related to audio visual equipment.) ○ Including digital display monitors, speaker systems, lighting, interactive displays, etc. ○ Respond to urgent aquarium exhibit needs as well as provide input into developing new exhibits and implementing new exhibit technologies.
  • Support the operations of Mote's special events, meetings and presentations.
○ Operate A/V equipment for Mote internal events such as fundraisers, presentations, meetings, conferences, etc. ○ Monitor Room Reservations Calendar and communicate with the Events Department to ensure all A/V needs are met for internal meetings and events. ○ Operate A/V equipment as contracted for venue rental clients in conjunction with the Venue Services team. ○ Attend site visits with clients requiring AV services.
  • Connect various electronic devices together for display/presentations. ○ Install and maintain video and audio equipment.
  • Track and update warranty information for various pieces of equipment.
  • Support of Distance Learning Program and other virtual Education Programs as needed.
  • Work closely with all levels of Mote staff and volunteers in addition to vendors and venue rental clients.
  • Put safety of guests, employees, interns and volunteers as a top priority
  • Communicate accurately, effectively, and regularly with members of other departments (Communications, Education, Development, Facilities, Finance, etc.)
  • Ensure continued compliance of related plans, policies, procedures, laws and standards ○ Local, state, and federal laws ○ Music licensing ○ Copyright permissions ○ AZA standards ○ Safety drills

Working Hours:
Normal hours are 8:00 a.m.
  • 5:00 p.m., Saturday through Sunday, with a 1 hour lunch break from 12:00
  • 1:00 p.m. Occasional longer daily hours, holiday hours may be required to complete specific tasks, not to total more than 29 hours per pay week (Wednesday
  • Tuesday), without approval of the Manager of Video Services.
This position will report to work at Mote. Science Education Aquarium at Nathan Benderson Park. Travel between this location and Mote's other Sarasota locations may be required.

Non Exempt (Federal Fair Labor Standards Act)
Minimum Requirements:
  • Valid Florida Drivers License or the ability to attain one within 6 months.
  • Physical capabilities include but are not limited to: ○ Ability to lift heavy objects or equipment of up to fifty pounds.
○ Ability to spend long hours sitting at workstation conducting tedious and repetitive procedures while maintaining a high level of quality work. ○ Good sense of balance for boat duties in rough seas. Cannot be excessively prone to motion/sea sickness. ○ Possess stamina for working occasional long hours in outdoor locations, during both day and night, which may include tropical to temperate conditions (hot or cold, humid, intense sunlight, rainy weather, etc). ○ Ability to swim ○ Must be able to focus cameras and other video equipment. The Video Services Technician cannot be color blind as color adjustments of equipment is required.
Education:
High school diploma; college diploma preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years Show Production or related field as well as experience working in Broadcast, Theater, Hospitality or related institution.
  • Familiarity with Digital signage and other display technologies.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
Pay:
$20.00 per hour
