PM Pay Range:
$28•36/hour (Based on Experience) Direct Hire Opportunity About the Opportunity Superior Skilled Trades is partnered with a company seeking a highly skilled Lead AV Technician with strong experience in wiring, installing, and configuring large-scale high-end residential audio/visual and smart home systems. This role is focused on luxury residential projects and requires hands-on technical expertise, leadership in the field, and a strong attention to detail. Position Summary The Lead AV Technician is responsible for leading and executing installations of advanced residential AV and automation systems in high-end custom homes. This role requires expertise in structured wiring, system integration, rack building, and commissioning smart home technologies. The ideal candidate is confident leading jobsite activities, coordinating with builders and project teams, and delivering clean, professional-grade installations from rough-in through final programming and client handoff. Key Responsibilities Lead residential AV installation projects and on-site technician teams Install, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling (Cat6, fiber, coax, speaker wire, control wiring) Build and wire AV racks with clean, organized cable management Install and configure: Home theater systems Whole-home audio/video distribution Smart home automation systems Security cameras and access control systems Lighting and shading control systems Networking/Wi-Fi systems Configure, test, and troubleshoot AV and control systems Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and system designs Coordinate with project managers, builders, electricians, and homeowners Perform system commissioning and final client walkthroughs Train and support junior technicians in the field Maintain professional jobsite standards, cleanliness, and safety compliance
Qualifications Required:
5+ years of experience in residential AV installation or smart home integration Strong knowledge of structured wiring and low-voltage systems Experience building and dressing AV racks Ability to lead jobsite work and manage small crews Hands-on experience with AV and automation systems such as: Control4 Crestron Lutron Sonos Ubiquiti Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to read technical drawings and system layouts Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on ladders or in construction environments Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred:
