Full Job Description Position Purpose:
The AV Commissioning and Service Specialist is responsible for ensuring the successful deployment, performance, and long-term reliability of WTS audiovisual systems. This role plays a key part in the final delivery of installed systems by supporting the commissioning, validation, and optimization of system functionality to ensure alignment with design intent and client expectations. The role also provides long-term service and support for clients and their AV systems. Primary responsibilities include loading and verifying control system programming, performing comprehensive end-to-end system testing, coordinating system adjustments with programmers and the WTS Engineering team, and optimizing system performance—particularly audio quality. In addition, this role provides ongoing service and support to clients by diagnosing system issues, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring timely resolution. The Specialist is accountable for thorough documentation, client communication, service ticket completion, and coordination with internal teams to support accurate billing and long-term client satisfaction.
Functional Responsibilities:
Report to WTS Project Manager Perform on-site visits for both commissioning and service work as scheduled by the WTS Project Manager. Commission newly installed AV systems, including control system validation and full system performance testing ensuring functionality as designed. Diagnose system issues, determine root causes, and implement effective corrective solutions. Interface with equipment manufacturers to troubleshoot issues and support warranty claims. Process RMA documentation, organize associated records, and coordinate return visits with the Project Manager and client. Document all service, repair, and commissioning activities through detailed service reports and required documentation. Complete service tickets accurately, obtain client signoff, and submit documentation for billing. Estimate repair costs and coordinate with the accounting team regarding billable service work. Collaborate with the Director of Engineering on advanced troubleshooting and system optimization. Escalate to sales associate if a service call identifies the need for a more complex system upgrade. Maintain strong client relationships by addressing concerns, recommending improvements, and identifying opportunities for system enhancements. Ensure confidentiality of all clients and project information. Participate in ongoing technical training and manufacturer certification programs as directed. Participate in weekly team meetings and with project manager as needed. And other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, Attributes, and Behaviors Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities. Working knowledge of commercial AV systems and platforms (Biamp, Shure, Crestron, AMX). Familiarity with manufacturer software tools for configuration, commissioning, and diagnostics. Understanding IP networking fundamentals as they relate to AV systems. Ability to read and interpret AV system schematics, signal flow diagrams, and construction documents. Professional demeanor with strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and exercise sound judgment in the field. Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail. Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies. Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams. Education, Licenses, and Certifications Valid Missouri driver's license. Proof of automobile insurance. Some college coursework or technical training are preferred. CTS certification is preferred. Starting Salary at $55k/year. Salary is negotiable based on experience. This position includes a generous benifits package including health insurance, 401K, PTO as well as cell phone and fuel expense card.
