The Audiovisual Technology Support Specialist provides institution‑wide support for all classroom, meeting, and event spaces across the college. The position is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading audiovisual systems including projectors, displays, microphones, speakers, cameras, control processors, DSPs, and streaming and recording solutions. The specialist works closely with ITS teams, facilities department, and third‑party vendors to scope and review AV designs, coordinate installations, validate system performance, and ensure that technology standards are met across all campuses. This role supports a large inventory of instructional and event spaces and ensures that faculty, staff, students, and campus guests experience reliable, high‑quality audiovisual services. The specialist provides in‑person and remote support; assists with the planning, setup, operation, and teardown for live events; and resolves issues quickly in high‑visibility environments. Because many campus events occur outside standard business hours, the position requires flexibility for evening, weekend, and occasional holiday assignments. The specialist also trains end users on AV equipment, develops and maintains system documentation, manages equipment inventory, and contributes to the long‑term planning and lifecycle replacement of AV technologies. Through collaboration and technical expertise, this role helps the college deliver effective instruction, events, and presentations across all college locations. Min Salary $51,292.31 Mid Salary $57,703.85 - We offer a competitive salary package that will be determined based on the candidate's experience level and qualifications related to the job. Compensation will be commensurate with your level of experience. Duties/Functions Difficult Challenges Contacts Education Required Associate's degree in audiovisual technology, information technology, multimedia, communications technology, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. OR Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible audiovisual support experience in lieu of degree. Education Preferred Experience Required Two (2) years of hands‑on experience supporting audiovisual systems in classrooms, meeting rooms, or event environments. Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting projectors, displays, microphones, speakers, audio DSPs, cameras, control systems, and streaming or recording solutions. Experience supporting live events, including operating mixers, microphones, signal routing, and basic lighting. Experience coordinating with external vendors for repairs, equipment procurement, or system installations. Experience Preferred Three (3) to five (5) years of audiovisual support experience, preferably in higher education or large multi‑site environments. Experience with Crestron, Extron, AMX, Q‑SYS, Biamp, or similar control and DSP platforms. Experience participating in AV room design, equipment specification, or technology standardization projects. Experience supporting streaming platforms, lecture capture systems, and hybrid instruction environments. Experience developing or maintaining AV documentation, including wiring diagrams, rack layouts, and equipment inventories. Experience with IT Service Management ( ITSM ) software and Remote Support software. KSA Required Working knowledge of AV‑related networking concepts such as IP addressing, VLANs, PoE, and fundamental AV‑over‑IP or Dante workflows. Ability to read and interpret equipment documentation, wiring diagrams, and signal flow schematics. Understanding of audiovisual system components, their functions, and how they integrate in instructional and event environments. Ability to diagnose and resolve complex AV issues involving signal flow, control logic, audio quality, network transport, and user error. Familiarity with networking as it relates to AV, including IP configuration, switching, PoE, and device discovery. Ability to safely use ladders, lifts, and hand tools for installing and maintaining AV equipment. KSA Preferred Department/Job Specific Requirements Valid driver's license and the ability to travel between college campuses. Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends to support live events. Commitment to professional development and staying current with AV technologies. Ability to explain technical concepts to users with varying comfort levels.
