This role is designed for passionate media professionals and educators who can inspire young people through creativity, storytelling, technology, and workforce-focused learning experiences. Instructors will provide interactive training in podcasting, audio engineering, digital storytelling, multimedia production, streaming, content development, and media marketing while helping participants develop technical proficiency, communication skills, confidence, collaboration, and professional identity. The instructor will create a culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and highly engaging learning environment that encourages youth voice, creativity, critical thinking, and positive self-expression. Through project-based learning and real-world media production experiences, instructors will guide participants from foundational production concepts to the creation of original digital media content and live podcast productions. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, the ability to build authentic rapport with youth, and a commitment to empowering young people through innovation, creativity, and career readiness development. Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction in: Audio recording and sound engineering Audio editing and post-production Podcast development and production Digital storytelling and scriptwriting DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) software applications Streaming, publishing, and content distribution platforms Branding, marketing, audience engagement, and digital media monetization Facilitate hands-on learning experiences using professional media equipment including microphones, mixers, headphones, portable recorders, DAW software, and recording workstations Guide participants through the complete digital media production process from concept development and scripting to recording, editing, publishing, and presentation Support youth in developing original podcast episodes, interviews, digital stories, and other multimedia content that reflects their voice, experiences, and creativity Create a safe, structured, inclusive, and highly engaging classroom environment that promotes respect, accountability, collaboration, and active participation Utilize culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and youth-centered instructional strategies to effectively engage justice-involved youth populations Encourage participant growth in communication skills, teamwork, leadership, creativity, confidence, and career readiness competencies Track participant attendance, engagement, skill progression, and classroom participation in accordance with program requirements Administer and assist with participant pre-assessments, post-assessments, and program evaluation activities Maintain program equipment, instructional materials, and media production resources in an organized and professional manner Participate in instructor meetings, planning sessions, and quality assurance activities as needed Support the planning and execution of culminating Live Podcast Showcase events where participants demonstrate acquired skills through live presentations and media productions Serve as a positive mentor and role model by encouraging professionalism, personal growth, creativity, and future career exploration within the digital media and creative economy sectors
