Master Control Operator

The television Master Control Operator is responsible for the overall on-air look of the television station through airing syndicated and live programming as well as scheduled station breaks. Works with computer-based broadcast automation systems. Updates and maintains signal control systems. Maintains programming and automation logs as required by station management. Segments content and clips to the server for server-based playout. Prints traffic logs and appends logs to the data management system. Monitors strength, clarity and reliability of incoming and outgoing signals and adjusts equipment as necessary to maintain quality broadcasts. Selects sources from which programming will be received, or through which programming will be transmitted. Reports equipment problems and ensures that repairs are made. Makes emergency repairs to equipment when necessary and possible. Ensures the station's compliance with Emergency Alert System requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Skills:

Technical degree in Digital Electronics, Broadcast, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience preferred but will train the right individual. Fluency in English. Excellent oral, written, and typed communication skills. The ability to document anomaly descriptions accurately and in a timely manner. Minimum three years' experience with digital electronics systems in a television broadcasting environment preferred but will train the right individual. Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, and other technology-based systems. Strong PC/MicroSoft Office experience. Experience with digital transmitters and other broadcast-related equipment. Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time position with a non-standard schedule meaning days off will not be weekend days. Weekends will be required, and normal days off may be Monday and Tuesday, Tuesday and Wednesday, or Wednesday and Thursday.
