Job Description

The Production Audio Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining audio equipment for live events, broadcasts, recordings, and productions. This role ensures high-quality sound by managing microphones, mixing consoles, playback systems, and other audio-related technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of audio signal flow, troubleshooting skills, and experience working in fast-paced production environments. Collaboration with producers, directors, and other technical staff is essential to meet production standards and deliver clear, professional audio experiences. Directly reports to the Production Managers and/or the General Manager. Help with the installation, operation, and maintenance of all sound equipment used for any Park event regardless of location. Assist with the safe and correct installation of any additional sound equipment brought into the Park by scheduled artists or rental companies. Work event days as scheduled thru load-in and load-out, rehearsals, performance, and strike. Assist with the execution of all performance requirements including but not limited to: operating the sound board, acting as deckhand, and setting or striking any elements used in an event or show. Help maintain all sound equipment, both in use and in storage; assisting with the creation and maintenance or starting, active, and closing inventories. Work with the Production Manager and the Artist's Representative to meet the individual sound needs of each event. Cost out any additional sound needs as they occur. Help with the construction, installation, and maintenance of scaffolding and masking for the Evans Amphitheater set-up. Maintain high safety levels at all times. Act as support for the other Sound Engineer and A2 in all capacities . Set up Assisted Listening Devices for Evans/Alma. Maintain and repair Cat5, XLR, and/or other cabling. Operate Consoles /Mix audio for all Alma shows. Keep up on any necessary certifications or education that applies to park owned equipment. Work sound for any events/performances as assigned, and do all homework associated with microphone needs and transfers, including wireless mics, if needed. Work all events in the Evans Amphitheater. Set up and maintain Clear Coms in Evans and Alma. Assist with shutdown activities, including end-of-season inventory of materials and supplies on hand and the values of each. Assist tours, musicians, and guest techs with any and all needs. Prior to receipt of the final paycheck, you will be required to submit a written final report summarizing the season, with suggestions for future improvement. This report must include a full end-of-season inventory of all production equipment and materials, supplies on hand, and their approximate value. Any other duties as assigned by the Production Manager and/or the General Manager. Proficient with audio equipment such as mixing consoles, microphones, wireless systems, playback devices, and audio interfaces. Knowledge of audio signal flow and troubleshooting common technical issues. Experience with digital audio workstations (e.g., Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live) and sound editing software. Familiarity with audio routing, EQ, dynamics processing, and feedback elimination. Certification in audio technology or sound engineering a plus. Experience working in theater, broadcast, concert, or film production environments.
