Full Time Staff Position About the Production Environment Our productions operate in technically demanding environments and require crews who are comfortable working with advanced camera systems, complex rigging setups, and professional audio workflows. Projects may involve filming in dynamic locations including aircraft, marine platforms, remote environments, and other challenging field conditions. We rely on technicians who take pride in preparation, precision, and the ability to solve problems quickly when production demands it. Role Summary We are seeking a skilled Camera & Audio Technician to join our team as a full time staff member supporting unscripted television productions. This position is designed for a technically proficient professional who can work across both camera systems and professional location audio in fast paced production environments. The role involves prepping, building, rigging, maintaining, and troubleshooting camera systems, while also supporting professional audio equipment including wireless microphone systems, field mixers, and recording devices. Candidates should be comfortable working within the Sony FX series ecosystem and familiar with higher end cinema camera platforms used in documentary and reality production. This is a long term staff position intended for someone who wants to become a core technical member of a production team, helping maintain reliable equipment workflows across multiple projects. Experience supporting productions in challenging environments such as marine operations, aviation platforms, remote locations, or extreme weather conditions is strongly valued. Key Responsibilities Camera Systems Camera Preparation Assemble, configure, and test camera packages before production to ensure all systems are fully operational. Sony FX Series Support Serve as the primary technician for Sony FX3, FX6, and FX9 cameras including menu configuration, firmware updates, codec settings, and troubleshooting. Rigging and Mounting Design and build secure camera rigs for vehicle mounts, fixed installations, POV cameras, and specialty production environments. Cinema Camera Platforms Support preparation and deployment of cinema cameras such as SonyVENICE, VENICE 2, ARRI ALEXA
platforms, and RED systems when required. On Set Technical Support Diagnose and resolve camera or rigging issues quickly during production. System Management Maintain firmware and system configurations across cameras, monitors, wireless video systems, and accessories. Audio Systems Audio Equipment Preparation Prepare and deploy wireless lavalier systems, boom microphones, handheld microphones, and field recorders. Wireless Microphone Systems Manage wireless systems including Lectrosonics, Sennheiser, Wisycom, and Zaxcom transmitters and receivers, including frequency coordination. Field Mixing and Recording Configure and support field mixers and recorders such as Sound Devices MixPre, 6 Series, and 8 Series units as well as Zoom F Series recorders. Timecode Synchronization Maintain reliable timecode synchronization between camera and audio systems using devices such as Tentacle Sync, Ambient, or Denecke. Audio Troubleshooting Diagnose and resolve RF interference, signal dropout, cable faults, and other audio issues in real time. Department Operations Equipment Inventory Management Maintain organized inventory and tracking of camera equipment, audio gear, rigging hardware, cables, and accessories. Maintenance and Repairs Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs while coordinating major service with vendors or manufacturers. Vendor and Rental Coordination Work with rental houses and equipment vendors for gear sourcing, repairs, and purchases. Safety Compliance Ensure all rigs, mounts, and audio setups meet professional safety standards, particularly for vehicle, aerial, or overhead applications. Production Collaboration Work closely with the DP, camera operators, sound mixers, producers, and post production teams to support technical workflows. Training and Crew Support Provide guidance to junior crew members and assist with onboarding new team members on equipment workflows. Budget Awareness Assist in tracking equipment related costs and recommending cost effective gear solutions. Required Qualifications Sony Camera System Expertise Extensive hands on experience with Sony FX3, FX6, FX9 and familiarity with Sony's broader professional ecosystem. Camera Rigging Experience Proven experience building professional rigs using speed rail systems, suction mounts, car rigs, hostess trays, clamps, articulating arms, and custom mounting solutions. Cinema Camera Experience Experience supporting cinema cameras such as SonyVENICE, ARRI ALEXA
platforms, or RED systems. Professional Audio Knowledge Strong working knowledge of wireless microphone systems, field mixers, portable recorders, and timecode workflows. RF Coordination Experience Understanding of frequency coordination and wireless audio management in production environments. Technical Systems Knowledge Familiarity with video signal flow, audio signal flow, wireless video systems, power distribution, and lens systems. Production Experience Minimum 3 to 5 years working in camera or sound departments on documentary, reality, or unscripted television productions. Problem Solving Ability Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly in fast paced production environments. Preferred Qualifications Experience with DJI Ronin or Freefly MoVI stabilizer systems Familiarity with drone or remote operated camera platforms Experience with multi camera or live to tape workflows Rigging safety training or OSHA certification Knowledge of post production audio workflows Valid driver's license and willingness to travel Experience working with camera prep houses or rental facilities Key Attributes Detail Oriented Consistently verifies connections, rigging, and system configurations before deployment.
