This position also assists with Title
III KPVU
renovations, restorations, technology activations, and curriculum-based lab development connected to the KPVU-TV Studio, KPVU Media Lab, Broadcast Suite, Podcast Room, Green Room, and the KPVU-Digital Audio Curriculum Lab. Working under the supervision of Tony Clomax, Director of Film and Television Production, the Summer Assistant will help create professional media content suitable for distribution through KPVU-FM, KPVU-TV, Panther Podcast, and related KPVU-Media platforms. This position is ideal for students, staff, or emerging media workers seeking hands-on experience in broadcast journalism, live television production, sports media, digital audio production, podcasting, multimedia storytelling, and field production. The role requires professionalism, reliability, technical skill, creativity, teamwork, and the ability to work in a fast-paced live broadcast and media production environment. The position will run from June 1, 2026 - August 31, 2026 Responsibilities:
Help produce professional-quality content suitable for distribution through KPVU-FM, KPVU-TV, Panther Podcast, and KPVU-Media digital platforms. Support Title III KPVU
renovations and restorations, including organizing production spaces, assisting with equipment placement, supporting technology activations, preparing rooms for student use, and helping document renovation progress. Assist with the restoration and development of the KPVU-Digital Audio Curriculum Lab, including support for lab layout, equipment organization, student workflow design, and instructional production environments. Support post-production workflows, including logging footage, organizing media files, editing video/audio content, preparing rough cuts, exporting projects, archiving media, and delivering completed content by the deadline. Assist with the setup, design, operation, strike, restoration, and organization of the KPVU-TV Studio, KPVU Media Lab, Broadcast Suite, Podcast Room, Green Room, and related production spaces. Help design hands-on lab experiences for students in broadcast production, digital audio recording, podcasting, multimedia journalism, live switching, camera operation, interview production, and post-production. Assist with equipment inventory, check-in/check-out, labeling, storage, cable management, maintenance, loading, transportation, setup, and strike. Help prepare workshop materials, equipment demonstrations, production exercises, student training activities, and basic instructional guides. undefined Required Education and Experience:
Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done. Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least three (3) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours for the fall/spring terms. Studio television production Field production or sports coverage Multimedia journalism Podcast production Digital audio recording and editing Social media content creation Video editing and post-production Camera, lighting, and audio setup Teleprompter, switcher, or control room operations Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Audition, Canva, Audacity, or related software Other Requirements:
Professionalism, punctuality, reliability, and accountability. Interest or experience in television, radio, film, journalism, podcasting, sports media, digital audio, or multimedia production. Basic technical knowledge of cameras, audio equipment, lighting, editing software, podcast equipment or live production tools. Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in fast-paced studio, field, and live broadcast environments. Willingness to assist with both creative and logistical production tasks. Ability to lift, carry, set up, strike, and safely handle production equipment.
