This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong experience in journalism, global affairs, political science, international relations, economics, or media—and who thrives on moving fast when news breaks.
Your job:
track current events in real time and turn them into clear, concise, and compelling copy—often same-day. If you're the kind of person who refreshes multiple news sites before breakfast, you'll feel right at home. Key Responsibilities Monitor breaking news and developing global stories across politics, economics, geopolitics, tech, and culture Write concise, accurate, and engaging scripts/outlines Summarize complex stories into clear, digestible talking points without losing nuance Flag important developments and suggest story ideas proactively Revise copy quickly based on editorial feedback (speed matters) Maintain a neutral, factual tone aligned with journalistic standards How to Apply A brief cover note explaining your interest in current events and this role 1-3 writing samples (published articles, essays, or news summaries are ideal) Requirements Qualifications Must-Have Experience Strong writing skills with an ability to be clear, concise, and fast Excellent understanding of current events and global affairs Comfortable working on tight deadlines and adapting to breaking news Strong research instincts and fact-checking discipline Familiarity with major news outlets (e.g., Reuters, AP, FT, WSJ, NYT, Economist, etc.) Self-starter who can work independently and communicate clearly Previous experience in journalism, newsletters, or digital media Experience writing for audio or on-camera delivery Knowledge of geopolitics, finance, or international policy Ability to work across time zones or outside standard business hours when news breaks Benefits Compensation & Benefits Salaried at $65,000 - $80,000 USD per year Competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
