Job Description

Role Summary This is a unique opportunity to join the writing team at RED, Vanguard's in-house agency that sits within Personal Investor Marketing. Our mission is to connect with individual investors through clear, compelling, and compliant communications that reinforce Vanguard's brand and values. As an in-house creative group, RED partners with business stakeholders to execute campaigns that balance creativity with regulatory rigor—ensuring every message is accurate, engaging, and aligned with strategic goals. As a lead copywriter on this team, you'll play a key role in shaping high-profile content that informs and inspires investors. You'll collaborate closely with designers, content strategists, and creative strategists to develop creative concepts and produce polished communications across channels. This position calls for a blend of strategic thinking and strong writing skills, with opportunities to influence content from initial concept through final execution. What you'll do: 1. Creates in-depth, compelling communications and positioning on a range of subjects, including Vanguard funds, products, and services; financial markets; the economy; regulatory matters; portfolio construction and theory, and internal communication topics. 2. Displays versatility in producing clear communications through a wide range of styles and channels, including responsive web pages, campaigns, ads, emails, presentations, blogs, videos, letters, articles, videos, and social media channels. 3. Expertly presents and "sells" content and design solutions to senior management, project teams, partners, and stakeholders. Ensures the success of the strategy. 4. Assumes a leadership role on key projects for the department or cross departments that require data analytics and subject matter expertise, including responsive web pages, timely communications, campaigns, visioning, testing, and news. 5. Provides creative direction and guidance on messaging and/or content strategy across mediums—working closely and collaboratively with designers, developers, marketing managers, and business leaders. Leads the creation of new approaches or processes with a 1-3 year outlook. 6. Serves as mentor to less experienced writers by providing specific feedback on their copy, story ideas, new media formatting, and interviewing skills. 7. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned. 8. Responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compelling content for the website and other online communications media. 9. Ensures that content is structured to meet users' needs and aligned with the organization's web strategy. 10. Manages and performs website editorial activities, including gathering and researching information that enhances the value of the site. What we're looking for: Minimum 8 years of experience in content strategy, digital communications, or editorial management. Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or related field. Good to have skills include digital content creation, website content management, editorial planning, user-focused content structuring, storytelling, and content performance analysis. Proficiency with content management systems (CMS), analytics tools (such as Google Analytics), and collaboration tools. Strong communication skills both verbal and written along with problem-solving, critical thinking, time management, and cross-functional collaboration abilities are required.
