Hours/Week Compensation:
$55,000 - $65,000 Position Overview At Life Church Buffalo, we believe every message we share-through word, image, and experience-is an act of helping people know and follow Jesus step-by-step. The Communications Director shapes and executes the church s overall communication strategy, ensuring our message is clear, mission-aligned, and compelling for both our congregation and the surrounding community. As a creative/strategic leader, the Communications Director guides a talented team committed to reflecting the heart and vision of our church through powerful storytelling, design excellence, and digital engagement across multiple platforms and expressions. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategy & Alignment Develop and execute a unified communications strategy that supports church-wide vision and ministry initiatives Partner closely with the Worship & Creative Arts Pastor to align outward-facing messaging with teaching series, worship environments, and creative direction Serve as the primary steward of the church s voice, tone, and brand consistency across all platforms Align and strengthen communication pipelines between ministries, empowering leaders to connect to their audience with clarity and a unified voice. 2. Team Leadership & Development Lead and develop our creative communications team, providing clear direction, feedback, and project prioritization Foster a healthy, creative, and collaborative team culture Manage external vendors (graphic design, video, printing, etc.) as needed. Oversee and mentor an effective volunteer team, including the photography team, online host team, and social media content creators. 3. Creative Content & Campaign Management Oversee the planning and execution of church-wide communication campaigns (sermon series, seasonal events, and ministry initiatives) Manage and maintain a centralized communications calendar Write, edit, and approve key promotional messaging to ensure clarity and effectiveness 4. Digital Presence & Engagement Oversee and strategically improve the church website and app (structure, content, user experience) Direct social media strategy and execution in collaboration with the Social Media Coordinator and/or volunteers Manage email communications and audience databases Qualifications Required Strong alignment with the church s mission, values, and theological beliefs Bachelor s degree in a related field or equivalent experience 3+ years of experience in communications, marketing, creative direction, or a related field Proven ability to lead projects and manage multiple priorities Excellent writing, storytelling, and interpersonal communication skills Demonstrated leadership of staff or volunteer teams Experience managing digital platforms (social media, email marketing, websites/CMS) Preferred Working knowledge of design and/or video production tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.) Familiarity with church or faith-based working culture and weekly rhythms Key Competencies Strategic thinker who can translate vision and ministry need into actionable plans Strong leader who can develop and empower a growing creative team Highly organized with strong attention to detail and deadlines Collaborative and relational, able to work across multiple ministries Spiritual Expectations Demonstrates a growing and active relationship with Jesus Christ Fully engaged in the life and community of the church Models humility, integrity, and Christ-like character Supports and advances the mission and leadership of the church Work Environment This role is a full-time, on-site position that requires flexibility, collaboration, and occasional evening or weekend availability to support services, events, and major initiatives.
