Shakespeare Theatre Company Washington, DC US JOB DETAILS DESCRIPTION Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), located in downtown Washington DC, seeks a full-time Swing Deck Chief to join the Stage Operations Department. The primary duty of this position is to provide coverage for the stage crew during the runs of shows as well as giving in-depth technical support to the loading in and out of scenery and soft goods for shows, events, and presentations within the theaters. This list is not exhaustive, and the employee may have other duties assigned. This is a full-time, seasonal position with excellent benefits and an hourly rate of $28.82. The dates of employment will be August 3, 2026 - July 30, 2027. Suitable candidates will have a Bachelor's Degree in theatre production or technical theatre, or the equivalent experience and training and at least 1-2 years of professional experience in stage operations or scenic departments. The ideal candidate will have experience in counterweight flying, scenic construction, automated scenery, and crew leadership. This position will be regularly required to: work at height, wear a harness, lift up to 50 lbs. unaided, and make use of a full range of motion. A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required as the position will be expected to drive 16' box trucks. Flexibility and the ability to work evening and weekend performance schedules is essential. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between STC and IATSE Local 22.
