Job Description

This position is responsible for the coordination and production of all video and web streaming of Iowa Central assigned athletic events, as well as other campus events requested by our Administration. This position will be charged to recruit/train students that qualify for work study money to assist with these productions. The Sports Media Specialist will need to train the students assisting with the productions how to properly run and care for a production camera. This position will work closely with the head and assistant coaches and student-athletes to enhance both our livestream production and our overall athletic department presence on social media outlets.   • Communicate with the Intercollegiate Athletic Director regarding upcoming athletic events that need to be live-streamed.
  • Communicate with our Administration on which "non-athletic" events need to be live-streamed.
  • Recruit/train work study students to fill the role of properly running a production camera.
  • Set up a schedule for students to ensure that all needed events are properly covered.
  • Work to secure an announcer for the more important home athletic contests/events.
  • Communicate closely with and schedule accordingly - interviews with both our head/assistant coaches and competing student-athletes to enhance our live-stream productions and social media presence.
  • Maintain a presence at Orientations and Campus Visit Days in an attempt to generate student interest in becoming part of our live-stream video team.
  • Broadcast via video and live-stream Iowa Central athletic events, and other events requested by our Administration.
  • Attend and supervise the work study students production of video and live streaming of Iowa Central athletic events and other events requested by our Administration. Frequent (34-66%)
  • Maintain, store and secure equipment for our livestream productions.
  • Provide set up and tear down for each production with student support.
  • Assist with getting head shots of starters/squad members on our video display boards both at Dodger Stadium and Hodges Fieldhouse.
  • Assist during the starting line-ups at home events to coordinate the timing of the announcer and the video board head shots.
  • Assist the Decker Auditorium Manager as needed. Occasional (10-33%)
  • Attend bi-monthly coaches meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Be able and willing to represent Iowa Central Community College in a positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, clients, suppliers, and the community we serve. Provide the best possible live stream experience for those watching our home athletic events and non-athletic events (not able to attend in person). Effectively communicate and interact with our Athletic department employees and attempt to meet their needs for live streaming of home events. Treat students with respect. Be sensitive to student needs. Provide for student differences. Display skills/desire needed to attract 8-12 work study students to assist with the productions. Effectively teach the students who have been recruited to assist - the basics of running production equipment when putting a quality live-stream production together. Ensure the equipment needed to produce a quality live-stream product is up and running properly on time and that it is taken down proper and in a timely manner at the conclusion of the production. Two (2) years of experience in the producing live-stream events required. An Associate's degree in Video Production or related field is preferred. Must pass criminal background check. Position involves constant (67-100%) sitting, standing, and walking, talking to or listening to persons over the telephone and in person; frequent (34-66%) sitting, visual activity, and repetitive motion while utilizing video and computer equipment; and occasional (10-33%) stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, and carrying/lifting up to 25 pounds.
