Chicago, IL (In-office)
Compensation :
$60000-$72000 + performance bonus Conference Producer MIE runs B2B trade shows worldwide. Our conference programming articulates the identity of our events. We're hiring a Conference Producer to own that work in the U.S. You will build our speaker roster: who's onstage, why they belong there, and the relationship with each one from first contact through the day they walk off stage proud. You'll take on real ownership from week one, in a seat where your judgment shows up directly on the stage. What you own The roster. Recruit speakers across our three show themes — real estate, smart homes, and infrastructure. You'll work speaker platforms, LinkedIn, relevant industry associations, and direct outreach to academics, public-sector leaders, and operators, plus referrals from speakers you've already landed. We close them on the strength of our articulated vision for the platform. The agenda. Shape the program into distinct themes, covering transformative technology across our industry verticals. Vetting. Every speaker pitching an investment gets a documented due-diligence pass before they're under contract. The relationship. You're each speaker's main point of contact from soft yes through contract, travel, prep, and a thank-you afterward. You own speaker travel and the planning documents behind it — itineraries, the master travel tracker, budget vs. actual. Junior staff will help you execute, but keeping it orderly and on-budget is on you. What you bring 6+ years running conferences or similar events You've personally sourced and closed 80-plus speakers a year for conferences, trade shows, or comparable B2B events — many cold Multi-channel outreach: speaker platforms, LinkedIn, associations, direct prospecting — understanding which lever works for which kind of speaker Editorial judgment — you can build an agenda that tells a story, not just fill slots Pipeline discipline at scale — you've carried 100-plus live relationships in a tracked system without drops Comfort with speaker logistics: contracts, travel, prep Chicago-based, in-office A plus: an existing network in real estate, smart homes, or infrastructure; association relationships in those sectors; a background in editorial, podcasting, or moderating; experience trading visibility or footage in place of fees. What you'd hit early A working pipeline and a live vetting process inside the first month; a substantially built Vegas roster and a first-draft agenda by the second; and a locked roster plus documented playbooks by the third — systematizing as you go.
