This volunteer role requires in-person presence in Boston, Massachusetts, and current residency in New England. Position Summary The Chair of Concert Operations is a member of Orkest's Board of Directors and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of concert production and logistics. This role ensures the successful execution of performances through coordination with artists, venues, and volunteer production teams. The Chair of Concert Operations reports to the Vice President and Co-Founder, Michael Gehman, who has led concert operations for the past three years. Key Responsibilities This role owns the production experience (technology, scheduling) and works in close collaboration with the Chair of Audience Relations, who leads "front of house" and relationship building. Concert Production & Logistics Oversee production management for all Orkest concerts and events Develop and manage concert timelines, including load-in, rehearsal, and performance schedules Conduct venue walkthroughs in advance of performances to assess technical and logistical needs Serve as the on-site production lead during concerts Artist & Production Coordination Communicate with artists regarding technical requirements and production details Coordinate with volunteer audio engineers and production team members Ensure all stakeholders are aligned on event logistics and expectations Venue Coordination Liaise with venue partners to confirm technical capabilities, policies, and event requirements Build and maintain relationships with venue staff across Greater Boston Board Service & Governance Attend bi-monthly virtual Board of Directors meetings Participate in strategic planning andanizational decision-making Fulfill fiduciary responsibilities as a nonprofit board member, including duty of care, loyalty, and obedience Additional Information This is an unpaid, volunteer leadership position as part of the Board of Directors Most work ispleted remotely; however, in-person attendance is required for concerts and venue walkthroughs Board meetings are held virtually on a bi-monthly basisQualifications:
Required Stronganizational and project management skills Experience in live event production, stage management, or concert operations Excellentmunication and coordination skills Ability tomit approximately 5 hours per week Availability for in-person concerts and pre-event venue visits Preferred Background in music, performing arts, or arts administration Experience working with technical production teams (audio, lighting, etc.) Familiarity with nonprofitanizations or board serviceSimilar jobs in Boston, MA
