Working every Detroit Red Wings home game, Ice Crew members combine elite skating ability, professionalism, and fan engagement to help create the excitement and energy that define Hockeytown. As a key component of both the fan experience and game operations, Ice Crew members energize fans through interactive activations while also maintaining the quality and safety of the ice surface throughout the game. Members are expected to demonstrate a strong work ethic, positive attitude, flexibility, and the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities Include:
Must have a flexible schedule with ability to work 50% of Detroit Red Wing home games (Including nights, weekends, and holidays). Maintain the quality of the ice surface through efficient snow removal during television timeouts and stoppages in play. Must be a proficient ice skater with previous hockey knowledge and experience preferred. Place and remove nets, assist with board and glass maintenance, and support any other ice-surface needs as required. Deliver engaging fan interactions and participate in game presentation activations throughout Little Caesars Arena. Represent the Detroit Red Wings and Winged Wheel Entertainment in a professional and energetic manner. Maintain a flexible schedule and reliable attendance throughout the season.
Leadership & Structure:
The Carhartt Ice Crew operates under the direction of the Detroit Red Wings Game Presentation Department and serves as an integral part of the Winged Wheel Entertainment team. While supporting game presentation and fan experience initiatives, the crew also works closely with the Ice Operations Department on specific ice-quality and maintenance responsibilities to ensure the playing surface meets National Hockey League standards. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled skater with a strong work ethic, engaging personality, team-first mentality, and a passion for creating memorable experiences for Red Wings fans while supporting the best ice conditions possible.
