Job Description ECU Department of Music is currently seeking two operational student staff members for the East Carolina Marching Pirates to serve as the operational stewards of the band and will be primarily responsible for the following tasks:
Setting up/tearing down the marching band practice field for all rehearsals, including relining as necessary, setting up practice markers, audio system, front ensemble equipment, podiums and ladders, etc.
Running the metronome throughout rehearsal
Loading/unloading the equipment truck in connection to all performances (home/away football games, exhibition performances, parades, etc.)
Managing instrument, uniform, and other equipment inventories
Driving the equipment truck for all performances
Moving equipment into and out of Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium on game days; setting equipment up in the stands and on the field, ensuring students have access to said equipment
Assisting Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma with marching band operational needs (including the collection/distribution of instruments/uniforms)
Hours/Week:
Spring and Summer hours as needed
Preseason hours as scheduled, from: August 3-16, 8 a.m.
- 11:30 a.m.; 1 p.m.
- 4 p.m.; 5:30 p.m
- 9:00 p.m.
Rehearsals (35-38 dates total): Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 3
- 6:30 p.m.
Game days (six total): 10-hour days
Exhibitions (one total): 10-hour days
Bowl Trip (TBD, 2-4 days, 2
- to 8-hour days)
Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.
) This is a labor-intensive role, and preference will be given to candidates who can meet the physical demands of the position; furthermore, students with a non instrumental musical background will be given preference. This is a non-performing, non-credit-earning position.
