  • Temporary The Mayor's Office seeks a temporary Full-Time Advance Team member to support the Mayor's public engagements.
This role conducts in-depth research, drafts briefings and memoranda, staffs the Mayor at events, and coordinates with community leaders and City departments to ensure strategic, seamless event planning and on-site execution. Reporting to the Senior Mayoral Advance, the Advance Team operates in a fast-paced, high-demand environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong writing skills, the ability to meet tight deadlines, demonstrated success in effectively managing stakeholder relationships, and a willingness to develop and learn new skills on the job. Nights, weekends, and holidays are required.

Duties & Responsibilities Provide on-site advance and logistical support for the Mayor at official events, ensuring seamless execution and effective coordination. Conduct research and prepare comprehensive briefing materials for the Mayor in advance of meetings, events, and public appearances. Coordinate with City departments and external partners to gather information and ensure the accuracy and completeness of mayoral briefing materials. Assist with special projects and initiatives related to the Mayor's Office, including event planning, scheduling, and executive operations. Collaborate closely with the Mayor's scheduling, communications, community relations, and security teams to ensure effective planning and execution of mayoral engagements. Represent the Mayor's Office at event planning meetings, site visits, walk-throughs, and other logistical coordination meetings related to mayoral events. Availability to work non-traditional office hours, including nights, holidays, and weekends. Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Mayoral Advance. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or 3-years experience in a related field. Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with constituents, colleagues, and external partners. Ability to learn quickly, be effective in a fast-paced environment, and ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines. Ability to exercise discretion with confidential information. Acute cross-cultural awareness, with a demonstrated ability to center equity in decision-making and analysis. Excellent organizational, time management, and follow-up skills. Excellent technology skills with familiarity with Office 365, Facebook, X (Twitter) and other social media platforms. Acute attention to detail and the ability to multiple tasks.
