The Southern Texas PGA is seeking an ambitious, high-energy professional to join our team as a Tournament Manager within the Professional Tournament Department. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Tournament Operations, this role is vital to administering a diverse and high-level portfolio of professional events. From local 1-day Section and Senior events to Playing Ability Tests to massive flagship championships like the Energy Transfer Texas Senior Open, Section Majors, Korn Ferry Tour Q-School, and
PGA TOUR
Pre-Qualifiers, you will be at the center of elite tournament golf in Texas.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As Tournament Manager, you will work alongside our Senior Director of Tournament Operations to put on the best professional tournaments possible for our PGA Members, Associates, Seniors, and other touring professionals. This role is split between strategic office preparation in Houston and heavy on-site event execution. Tournament Execution & Operations

Diverse Portfolio:
Direct and execute over 60 tournament days across at least 50 distinct events annually. You will gain hands-on experience running a wide range of events, including 1-Day Section Events, 1-Day Senior Series Events, 1-Day "fun" Section Team Events, PAT's, Section Major Championships, the Energy Transfer Texas Senior Open, Korn Ferry Tour Q-School, and
PGA TOUR
Qualifying.
    Course Setup & Logistics:
    Take ownership of on-site preparations, from signage to course marketing to hole locations to intern training to communication with golf courses. This individual will be the advance official and work with facilities around Banquet Event Order forms, communication with Superintendents, and Host Professionals.
      Travel Management:
      While this position includes essential office-based planning time, it is first and foremost an event-driven role that requires a true passion for being on-site, a love for regional travel, and a deep appreciation for the behind-the-scenes details and long hours that elevate a tournament from good to elite.
        Pace of Play and Rulings:
        Execute the highly important Pace of Play Policy by the STPGA during Major Championships as well as assist with Rulings throughout all Championships and events administered by the STPGA. Financial Oversight & Office Administration
          Budget Administration:
          Gain elite financial experience by assisting in executing and consolidating a comprehensive annual tournament budget of $2M across all professional events. Tracking detailed financial records is key and hitting budget numbers is critical.
            Intern Training:
            Work with other departments to ensure interns each season are prepared to help onsite during events along with hitting our standards with course marketing, hole locations, and other essential tournament administration items. Career Growth & Springboard Mentorship

              WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
              Event & Travel Enthusiast:
              • While this position includes essential office-based planning time, it is first and foremost an event-driven role.
              You must have a true passion for being on-site, a love for regional travel, and a deep appreciation for the behind-the-scenes details and long hours that elevate a tournament from good to elite.
              Stamina & Grit:
              • The physical stamina and mental focus required to handle early mornings, long consecutive days on the golf course, and the physical demands of high-level event setup.
              Team Player:
              • Willingness to support other departments when needed and travel with a small group of co-workers.
              Outgoing personality and ability to build relationships with
              PGA Members and Associates Rules & Operations Command:
              • Practical experience running golf tournaments, confidence in making on-course rulings, and a strong working knowledge of the USGA Rules of Golf.
              Financial & Administrative Detail:
              • The organizational discipline and spreadsheet skills required to accurately help manage a multimillion-dollar department budget.

              QUALIFICATIONS
              • College Degree with experience in event management, golf background, tournament administration.
              • Strong working knowledge of the Rules of Golf and knowledge of BlueGolf tournament software.
              • Strong work ethic, organized, and detail oriented.
              • Excellent communication skills
              • Ability to drive a truck and trailer (Provided by the STPGA) and pick up 50 pounds
              • Ability to work weekends, travel outside of the Houston market, and work extended hours during tournament days.
              • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
              COMPENSATION AND BENEFIT PACKAGE
              The STPGA has put forth a competitive package with a variety of benefits for this position.
                Starting Annual Salary:
                Range of $60,000 to $70,000 based on experience.
