Job Description

Company Overview St. James' Episcopal Church, located in historic old town Leesburg, is a vibrant parish community dedicated to keeping God at the center of their activities and prayer. With a rich history dating back to the 1800s, we engage in diverse ministries and foster deep relationships within our community and beyond. Overview St. James' Episcopal Church is a warm and welcoming community, dedicated to loving God and loving our neighbors. The Weekend Sexton is expected to support the mission of St. James' and be a positive representative to the community. The sexton should maintain good communication and relationships with the church's staff, ministry leaders, and parishioners. Responsibilities Unlock the church on Sunday mornings and secure all doors, windows, and other openings after activities conclude. Prepare the church and campus for Sunday morning worship and occasional Saturdays for funerals, weddings, and special events. Set up and break down tables and chairs for parish gatherings and receptions. Prepare specified rooms for coffee hour after the worship services. Vacuum church, sweep hard floors, and tidy up common areas and kitchens Clean restrooms, empty trash and recycling bins, and restock paper products. Keep walkways and church entrances clear of leaves and debris.
Physical Requirements:
Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Able to navigate the multi-building campus, including climbing stairs. Able to efficiently understand and communicate with clergy and parishioners in English.
Qualifications:
Background check, Form I-9 Employment eligibility verification, and completion of Safe Church training required. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

From $21.00 per hour
