Position Downtown Ambassador Department Public Realm Operations Reporting Relationship MID Supervisor Status Part-time, non-exempt The DSA/MID Ambassador teams play a vital role in living our organization's mission: to create a healthy, vibrant downtown for all. All Ambassadors are stewards of the public realm and help to make it an inviting and welcoming place for all. All Ambassador teams work with the following priority framework focusing on the "three Cs": Clean, Clear and Cared for. This means that all employees strive to maintain a visually appealing and safe environment for all by resolving clutter and disarray and caring for all people in the public realm in a friendly and positive manner. The downtown public realm should be high quality and consistent, demonstrated through attentive oversight of the details in the public realm space and genuine care and concern for the people in the space. Position Overview The Public Realm Operations Ambassador is responsible for ensuring both public and private owned amenities in the downtown public realm are clean, organized and in excellent working order; that right-a-ways, parks and plazas are set up each day to be welcoming to all; to support activations, programming and events that support the organizations mission and to collaborate will all MID teams on a daily basis. Compensation DSA is committed to internal and market equity. The hourly range for this position is $22.00-$27.00 . Salary is determined based on internal and market equity, internal and market data/salary ranges, and the applicant's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We will hire at the beginning of the salary range to allow future salary growth based on an employee's performance, professional development, and increases in responsibilities and duties. Requirements:
Duties and Tasks Ensure that parks and public spaces can be set up for success each day, this may include loading/unloading delivery trucks, clearing areas of obstacles/interruptions, transporting trash and waste to proper disposal area, keeping inventory/stocking/replenishing supplies, signage, etc. Set up and breakdown of daily amenities (furniture, amenities, signage, misc. equipment, etc.) and activities in public spaces. Provide event and programming support for all public realm events to include set-up, staffing during events and breakdown. Perform a high level of service to customers, ratepayers, and stakeholders including ticket taking, and stocking. Reference paper and electronic calendars and programs to guide set-up and instructions to carry out job duties. Assist with monitoring, tracking, and reporting public realm art and beautification priorities. Perform repairs and maintenance tasks on public realm amenities. Observe, track and report data on public assets daily. Conduct various data collection and documentation to support Ambassador program operations. Address items of physical public disorder like fallen scooters, misplaced signs, and large debris, or work with Clean Team to address in a timely manner. Utilize computer and hand-held mobile device to collect data and track daily work activities in the public right-of-way and DSA-managed parks and public spaces. Represent MID/DSA at special events in a positive and professional manner. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Ability to consistently exemplify MID/DSA core values: Collaboration, Perseverance, Innovation, Excellence, and Integrity. Self-motivated, energetic leaner with a growth mindset. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written. Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on emotional intelligence. Ability to work in all public spaces in the downtown area. Ability to follow instructions. Required to maintain a clean and neat appearance. Must be able to provide a valid ID.
Customer service focus:
previous experience preferred but not required. Knowledge of downtown Seattle and its community a plus. Physical Demands and Work Environment Work Environment - Work outdoors for the entirety of each shift in all weather conditions, with exposure to potentially hazardous waste/substances. Physical Demands - Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
