Job Description
Do you love engaging with people? Can you keep a conversation flowing, entertain an audience, and create excitement around just about anything? If so, I may have the perfect opportunity for you. I'm looking for an energetic and personable Live Stream Host to help sell comic books through my established WhatNot store. You'll be the voice of the stream, showcasing comics, interacting with viewers, building community engagement, and helping drive sales. About Me & The Brand My name is Niko, and I started selling comic books on the Whatnot platform at the beginning of this year. What started as selling books from my personal collection from childhood has grown into a small but steadily expanding Local Comic Shop focused on providing collectors with a fun, community-driven buying experience. Customer service, honest descriptions, quality packaging, and building relationships with fellow collectors are at the core of what I do. I personally handle all inventory management, pricing, shipping, packaging, customer service, and behind-the-scenes operations. Your primary responsibility will be to host the live streams, engage with viewers, showcase books, and help grow the brand and community. Responsibilities Host engaging live streams through my established Whatnot account. Showcase comic books and collectibles in an entertaining and informative way. Interact with viewers by answering questions and creating a fun, welcoming atmosphere. Build relationships with customers and help grow a loyal community of comic collectors. Maintain a positive, professional presence during all live broadcasts. I will be there with you during the streams to help answer and provide details to comic books and questions as needed. Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older due to the mature themes and artwork featured in some comic books. Comfortable speaking live and engaging with an audience for extended periods. Strong communication and customer engagement skills. Passion for comics, collectibles, pop culture, or related hobbies is a plus. Ability to keep conversations flowing and maintain audience interest. Reliable, self-motivated, and enthusiastic. Comfortable working as part of a team in a semi-co-host environment. Previous live streaming, sales, customer service, or content creation experience is a plus but not required. Schedule & Working Style The goal is to host a weekly Friday or Saturday night show. Streams typically begin at 8:00 PM CST and run anywhere from 10:00 PM to midnight , depending on viewer engagement and sales activity. This is a semi-co-host role. I will be present during the stream to assist with organization, labeling books, running inventory, and helping keep the show moving smoothly. Your primary focus will be showcasing books, engaging with viewers, and keeping the conversation flowing while we work together as a team to create an entertaining and successful show. This is where you'll really shine, as I'm naturally more of a behind-the-scenes person than a big talker. Flexibility is important, as show length may vary based on attendance, sales volume, and overall stream momentum. In my experience most shows tend to trail off around 2-3 hours in but if your having an amazing show and rocking the sales, the sky is the limit. Dress code . Only dress code is that an all blank dark shirt/hoodie must be worn. This is due to reflections in the comic covers. Images or lighter colors show up in the comic covers making it more difficult to see the covers. Beyond that, no dress code. The stream is focused on the comic books, and the only part of you that will ever be on camera is your hands. Wear whatever you're comfortable in! My only request is that you maintain good personal hygiene. Dogs . I have two small-to-medium-sized dogs that also consider themselves part of the team, and they are. Expect the occasional interruption for pets, attention, or random dog shenanigans, though they usually sleep through most streams. All streaming equipment is already set up and operational. Cameras, lighting, microphones, and streaming hardware is provided and ready to go. I'm simply looking for someone who can step in and host the live streams. Compensation $10 per hour base pay — Paid the night of the stream via cash or Venmo. 50% commission — You'll receive 50% of the profits (after cost of goods/fees). Commission is paid once the show's sales have finalized, and always before the next scheduled stream. No cap on commission earnings. The more successful the show is, the more you earn. Future Growth Opportunities This position is perfect if you're simply looking for a fun way to earn some extra income while talking about comics. There is no expectation or requirement to grow beyond hosting the weekly live streams. That said, if you find yourself enjoying the role and would like to become more involved, I'd absolutely welcome it. As the business continues to grow, my goal is to expand beyond online sales and establish a presence at comic conventions and collector events. For anyone interested in being part of that journey, there may be opportunities to attend conventions and events as part of the team, with company-related travel and event expenses covered.
