Job Description

Department Summary:
The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures brings together a variety of disparate cultural and linguistic studies, both ancient and modern, into a vibrant interdisciplinary whole. In the NELC department, we make the past come alive. We make cultural studies of the Middle East relevant to undergraduate students and the greater community.
Position Summary:
The
SRA II NEX
will conduct research for the development of forthcoming academic publications about Egyptian coffins and tombs using online databases and other resources such as photographic documentation (Infrared photography, D-stretch photographic analysis, and other photographic analysis) to analyze relevant academic publications, to compile and annotate bibliographies. The candidate must have excellent library, database and research skills and knowledge of the ancient Egyptian world. Knowledge of the bureaucratic processes at the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities are a plus. Arabic speaking and writing skills are also desired.

Qualifications:
Research experience in ancient Egyptian material culture, philology, art history (Required) Experience formatting and preparing manuscripts for publication with InDesign software (Required) Experience in photography, both traditional and infrared (Preferred) Ability to multitask (Required) Demonstrated Ability using PC Computer and high level of comfort with Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows (Required) Demonstrated Ability publishing software such as Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign (Required) Ability to anticipate and solve problems independently, highly motivated, organized and capable of prioritizing duties/workload (Required) Excellent time management skills and ability to establish priorities, and work accurately and effectively with a high volume of detailed work, frequent deadlines, and consistent interruptions (Required) Self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize and complete assignments (Required) Ability to use or learn university online systems as needed (Required) Strong written and verbal communication (Required) Strong organizational skills (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Professional Affiliations:
Master's Degree in related area of Egyptology or equivalent experience/training (Preferred)
