Tono mai ki tētahi tūnga ki te Kaunihera o Ōtautahi This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior News and Media Advisor to join Christchurch City Council and take a leading role in producing and managing engaging news content for our community. About the team | Ko te rōpū nei Our role at Christchurch City Council is to ensure that our residents are kept up to date with what's happening in our great city and have the opportunity to participate in the decision-making process. You will be joining a small, vibrant News and Media team within the Communications and Engagement Unit. About the role | Ko te mahi nei As a Senior News and Media Advisor, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, timely, and engaging content across a range of channels.
Key responsibilities include:
Oversight and editorial responsibility for our online news platform, Newsline Producing engaging, informative, and timely content for residents across multiple channels Assisting the News and Media Manager with advice and responses to mainstream media enquiries Identifying, researching, and developing newsworthy content opportunities for use across Council channels To view a copy of the position description, click the link at the foot of the page. About you | Ko Koe Tēnei This is your chance to be part of a fast-paced and dynamic news and media environment. You will be a collaborative team player who can adapt quickly and confidently turn your hand to a variety of tasks. Reporting to the News and Media Manager, you will also act as second-in-charge for the team. To be successful in this role, you will bring: Tertiary qualification in Journalism or a related field Significant experience working within a media or communications environment Strong writing and editing skills, particularly for digital platforms
