Special Effects Supervisor

Independent proof-of-concept film for Honey By a Thread, a stylized, character-driven psychological drama set in a controlled, dystopian-leaning world. The story follows a group of young women living under a rigid societal structure where identity, individuality, and truth are tightly controlled. Through memory, loyalty, and shifting alliances, the protagonist begins to uncover contradictions within the system and question the authority guiding their lives. The tone is grounded, atmospheric, and visually inspired by period textures mixed with subtle futuristic elements.

Role Description:

Seeking a Special Effects / VFX Artist to help create a small holographic president speech displayed from a handheld projection device onto a wall. This is a single contained effect — not heavy VFX — meant to feel practical, subtle, and grounded in realism.

Effect includes:

Holographic projection look from device Slight flicker / distortion / light interaction President delivering pre-recorded speech Clean integration into plate footage One short scene (approx. 30 seconds total screen time) We already have: Projection device prop Reference images Editor + DP collaborating

Ideal Candidate:

Experience with subtle holographic or screen replacement effects Comfortable collaborating with director, DP, and editor Able to suggest practical shooting considerations Indie-friendly and creative problem solver
