  • Committed to the Protection and Health of the Delta The Delta Protection Commission (DPC) is seeking a hire a student assistant with excellent, well-rounded communication skills to assist us with; m aintaining our tourism-oriented website , including populating its calendar and maintaining its database of Delta recreation venues, p roducing written and visual content about DPC and community events ( example of past student assistant work here ), a ssisting with our two newsletters, and any other work that supports our mission to protect, maintain, enhance, and enrich the overall quality of the Delta environment and economy, with a focus on agriculture, recreation, and natural resources.
Conditions of Employment This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check: educational verification (degree, license, or official transcript) or DMV clearance. Prerequisites Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (Fall, Spring and Winter, if applicable), at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our affiliation list. Compensation $22.00 to 24.00 per hour. Minimum Qualifications Must complete each term with minimum unit requirements for Undergraduate and Graduate student classifications. Proof will be collected at the end of each Spring and Fall term. Experience writing clear, error-free content for the public. Basic (i.e., mobile device) photography/video experience. Proficient in using Microsoft Excel. Experience following a style guide. Experience with website content administration, preferably WordPress. Track record of working independently to solve problems, with a willingness to ask for help when stuck. Must be able to possess and maintain a valid California driver's license. Preferred Qualifications College newspaper/news website experience, regardless of major. Experience with digital photography/photo editing is a plus. Experience with website administration, including site-level changes and plugin updates is preferred. Good listening skills, ability to ask clarifying questions as needed to understand assignments. Ability to take feedback gracefully and translate it into improvement. Desire to learn and expand skills.
Duties and Responsibilities Events:
Maintain calendar of Delta events on Visit CA Delta website. Attend and photograph and/or video Delta events to publish photo galleries, video, and/or articles on the web and social media. Resource listing ( sample here ): Maintain database (spreadsheet) of Delta cultural resources/businesses by verifying that information hasn't changed. Update website when resources need to be updated, deleted, or added.

Other assignments may be offered depending on student's strengths and interests, or as needed to diversify their portfolio. Physical Requirements Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation. Working Conditions Work is performed in a hybrid environment with at least one day a week to work in our West Sacramento office and may include occasional day to travel to locations in the Delta to attend events with or without staff accompaniment and to take photos. Students/Employees will be required to work according to the current UEI remote workplace policy and sign a UEI Work from Home Agreement. The decision to permit an employee to work from home is at the discretion of the supervisor or employer and may, at any time and with or without cause, unilaterally terminate the option to work from home.
