Job Description
Mod Ref is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Design Assistant to support our Design and Product Development team. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their career in fashion design while gaining hands-on experience throughout the product development process. The Design Assistant will work closely with designers and cross-functional teams to ensure seasonal collections stay organized, on schedule, and accurately documented. Responsibilities Prepare for PO meetings by registering and organizing all prototype samples in the system Attend fittings and maintain accurate records of all design revisions and fit comments Assist in creating and updating tech packs under the direction of the Design team Generate, send, and track sample requests with vendors and factories Set up and maintain seasonal style books throughout the development process Maintain accurate records of all PO styles and development information Coordinate and follow up on ongoing projects to ensure deadlines are met Assist with internal lookbook shoots and support the Creative team as needed Organize and maintain the fabric, trim, and swatch library Support cross-functional teams with administrative and product development tasks Assist with sample organization, inventory management, and showroom preparation Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned Qualifications Entry level, 1-2 years of experience in Fashion Design, Product Development, Merchandising, or a related field preferred Fashion Design degree or currently pursuing a degree is a plus Basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop Familiarity with tech packs, garment construction, and product development processes preferred Strong organizational and time management skills Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong verbal and written communication skills Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative Team-oriented mindset with the flexibility to support multiple departments Our Ideal Candidate Passionate about fashion, design, and product development Highly organized and process-driven Comfortable working with deadlines and changing priorities Open to feedback and eager to learn Proactive problem solver with strong follow-through Believes no task is too small and is willing to support wherever needed About Mod Ref Established in 2012, Mod Ref stemmed from an idea to provide what was lacking in the market—quality essential garments and designs with a strong focus on fit.
