Position Overview:

Somich Design is seeking a motivated and organized assistant to the Principal Designer to join our team this summer. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who has a passion for design, is well organized, a self-starter, has excellent time management and communication skills and is an excellent team player. As the assistant to the Principal Designer, you will be responsible for helping the Principal Designer complete both personal and professional tasks, managing the Principal Designer's inbox, communicating with clients, vendors and contractors, creating drawings and renderings on AutoCAD and assisting the design team with various projects. This position is a part time, in person position at our Solana Beach design center. The design assistant is expected to work in our office from 9 to 4 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with weekends as needed. The pay for this position is $22 an hour.

Key Responsibilities:

Inbox management for Principal Designer Assist Principal Designer with personal and business related tasks, including accounting, scheduling and other administrative tasks Communicate with vendors, clients, and contractors Create drawings and renderings on AutoCAD Assist with sourcing furniture, materials, finishes and new vendors Support project coordination and timelines Maintain design library

Qualifications:

Degree or coursework in Interior Design or related field preferred Previous experience working as a personal or business assistant preferred Proficiency in AutoCAD required Strong organizational and multitasking skills Excellent communication and attention to detail Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Passion for design and a keen eye for aesthetics

Preferred Skills:

Experiencing using design software such as Sketchup and Revit Experience with material sourcing and vendor coordination Previous experience working or interning at a design firm Previous experience working as an assistant Basic understanding of construction documents and architectural drawings
