Maternity leave Overview We are supporting a leading client in the outdoor apparel and performance lifestyle space seeking a Contingent Cut & Sew Designer to join their design organization during a maternity leave coverage period. This role will support Men's and Women's Apparel and Accessories, contributing hands-on design execution, CAD updates, and cross-functional collaboration across Design, Development, Technical Design, and Merchandising teams. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, collaborative, and experienced in apparel design with strong technical execution skills and the ability to work quickly in a fast-paced, product-driven environment. What You'll Do In this role, you will act as a key design support partner across the cut & sew category, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout the product development lifecycle.
You will:
Adjust and update cut & sew design sketches throughout the development cycle, ensuring alignment with evolving style changes Partner with Technical Design to create detailed design handoffs , including trims, construction details, fabrication, fit intent, and styling direction Maintain accuracy and consistency of design documentation across multiple systems as updates occur Actively participate in fit sessions across apparel and accessory categories, making real-time updates to CADs and design handoffs Support color development in partnership with Technical Design and Knit Design leadership prior to final approvals Assist with BOM color input and ensure alignment across product documentation systems Maintain and update design decks, line sheets, and supporting documentation to ensure clear cross-functional communication Collaborate closely with Design, Development, and Merchandising partners to ensure execution aligns with product briefs and seasonal direction Stay engaged with brand values and contribute to a collaborative, creative team culture
What We're Looking For Must-Have Experience:
5+ years of apparel design experience (accessories experience a plus) Strong experience in product line development and execution Hands-on experience with fit sessions and design iteration High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Working knowledge of PLM systems Strong ability to create and communicate visual presentations Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment Nice to
Have:
Experience with Figma Exposure to CLO or other 3D design tools Experience with color development and BOM input processes BA/BS in Design or related field (or equivalent experience)
