Job Description:
Our client, an apparel company, is looking for a Hosiery and Sock Designer to join their team in NYC. Responsibilities Develop seasonal concepts, color direction, and style ideas for hosiery and sock collections. Create CADs, tech packs, and design artwork to support product development and production. Research market trends, competitors, and consumer preferences to guide product direction. Partner with sourcing, production, and factories to ensure accurate execution from design through final product. Select appropriate yarns, knitting techniques, and construction methods based on performance, comfort, and cost targets. Review and approve prototypes and samples, providing feedback to maintain quality and design intent. Ensure designs align with brand and licensing standards, preparing materials for approvals when required. Collaborate with sales and merchandising teams on assortments, presentations, and retailer needs. Communicate with overseas partners to address development challenges and keep timelines on track. Qualifications Experience designing hosiery, socks, or knitwear, supported by a strong portfolio. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD tools. Knowledge of knitting processes, yarns, gauges, and hosiery construction techniques. Ability to balance creative direction with business goals, costing, and timelines. Strong communication, organization, and presentation skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience working with licensed brands and international factories is a plus. Familiarity with retailer expectations across mass, off-price, or department store channels preferred.
