Pay Range:
$26.89 - $32.18 / hour (Depending on Experience) About Roman Events Founded in 2022 by Roman Yacob a creative visionary with over 20 years of industry experience, Roman Events is a fast-growing, community-focused event decoration company specializing in the South Bay Area. We are a tight-knit, passionate team of 10 people dedicated to bringing dream events to life. As we continue to expand, we are looking for a dynamic, flexible, and hands-on leader to join our team and help us manage our growing portfolio of events. Job Summary We are seeking an experienced, high-energy Event Decorator and Operations Manager who seamlessly blends creative artistry with sharp logistical coordination. In this dual role, you will be the bridge between design concepts and reality. You will be responsible for translating design drafts into breathtaking event setups, managing inventory, leading a small crew on-site, and ensuring that everything runs safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This role requires a high degree of flexibility, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a passion for excellence under tight, live-event deadlines.
Key Responsibilities Creative Execution & Styling Design Implementation:
Review, interpret, and precisely execute given draft designs to decorate luxury venues to client specifications.
Floral & Table Design:
Execute high-end, professional floral arrangements, centerpieces, table setups, place settings, and overall venue styling.
Structure & Fabric Draping:
Set up professional, secure pipe-and-drapery systems, backdrops, and ceiling drapes beautifully and safely.
On-Site Touch-ups:
Maintain a sharp eye for detail, ensuring linens are crisp, flowers are fresh, lighting is angled correctly, and everything looks pristine before guests arrive.
Operations, Logistics & Driving Order Prep & Inventory:
Read, understand, and cross-reference order checklists and invoices to pull, organize, and pack all required decoration items from the warehouse.
Transportation & Driving:
Safely drive the company cargo van to transport decor, tools, and floral elements from the warehouse to various event venues across the South Bay.
Load-In & Teardown:
Oversee the efficient loading and unloading of vehicles, ensuring fragile items are packed securely and teardowns are conducted without damaging venue property.
Team Leadership & Administration Staff Scheduling:
Manage and schedule part-time decoration assistants for setups and teardowns, ensuring optimal team coverage based on event scale.
Timecard Management:
Review, monitor, and approve team timecards, ensuring hours are logged accurately and labor costs stay aligned with project budgets.
On-Site Supervision:
Direct and motivate a small crew of 2-5 assistants on-site, delegating tasks effectively to meet strict venue time constraints.
Job Requirements & Physical Demands Valid Driver's License:
Must possess a clean, valid driver's license and feel comfortable operating a larger transport vehicle (cargo van/sprinter) in urban and suburban environments.
Schedule Flexibility:
Events primarily occur on weekends. You must be willing and available to work non-traditional, event-driven hours, including late nights, early mornings, and midnight setups or teardowns.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and lift up to 40-50 lbs comfortably for up to 10 hours at a time during intense setup windows.
Qualifications Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of professional, hands-on experience in event decoration, wedding design, or production management. Specific expertise in pipe and draping, floral design, and upscale table styling is strictly required.
Language & Communication:
Must be fully fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking) to accurately interpret design drafts, checklists, vendor invoices, and communicate effectively with clients or venue managers.
Problem-Solving Skills:
