Job Description
Job Overview Join our vibrant team as an Entry-Level Florist Assistant. We are looking for someone to be a long term fit with the shop (not a summer/temp gig). There is a lot of on-the-job training specific to the full service floral industry, and the nuances of Augusta Florist's needs. You'll be expected to contribute in all aspects of a full-service florist (except floral design), assist customers in placing orders and selections, help maintain a well-stocked and organized shop, and contribute to creating memorable experiences for every visitor. Duties (including but not limited to...) Assist customers in selecting flowers and floral arrangements, providing friendly and knowledgeable guidance. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the floral display area, work area and storage spaces. This includes (but not limited to) processing cut flowers, washing buckets, packing/unpacking materials, breaking down cardboard for recycling, etc. Assist with restocking floral supplies, fresh flowers, and decorative materials to ensure availability for daily needs. Ensuring all cut flowers and plants (indoors and out) are clean and well cared for daily. Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems for transactions, handle cash and card payments accurately. Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, offering product recommendations, and ensuring a positive shopping experience. Must be helpful minded. Making deliveries as needed using the shop delivery vehicle, and occasionally your own (with reimbursement). Must be available for significantly increase hours around the weeks of Valentines, the months of May and December, and for occasional event work. Skills Must be a self starter, but able to work well in a small shop environment, take direction without insult, and have a genuine desire to put your best into the job. Basic knowledge of plants and flower varieties helpful. Valid drivers license required. Must be able to communicate clearly and kindly with both clients and coworkers. Experience with retail sales, cashiering, and POS systems a plus. Ability to work well in a team environment while maintaining attention to detail under pressure, especially during peak business times. This entry-level position is paid and perfect for individuals eager to learn the art of floral design while gaining valuable retail experience.
