Florist Job Summary Potato Flowers is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Floral Assistant to join our team. This position helps with daily flower shop operations, including processing fresh flowers, organizing the cooler, assisting with arrangements, preparing orders, helping customers, and keeping the shop clean and organized. This is a great position for someone who enjoys working with flowers, has a positive attitude, and is willing to learn. Floral experience is helpful, but not required if you are hardworking, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Process fresh flowers when shipments arrive, including trimming stems, removing leaves, hydrating flowers, and placing them properly in buckets Organize flowers in the cooler and maintain proper rotation using FIFO — First In, First Out Check flower quality daily and remove old or damaged stems Help keep the cooler, work tables, buckets, tools, and shop area clean and organized Assist florists with basic prep work for arrangements, bouquets, weddings, events, and daily orders Wrap bouquets, prepare vases, clean containers, and package completed orders Help restock supplies, ribbons, cards, wraps, vases, and floral materials Assist customers in-store and over the phone with a friendly and professional attitude Operate POS system, process payments, and help with order details when needed Help prepare online, pickup, and delivery orders Assist with local deliveries when needed Follow shop procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace Qualifications Floral shop experience is a plus, but not required Must be reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions Strong attention to detail and organization skills Able to stand for long periods and work with hands throughout the shift Comfortable lifting buckets, flower boxes, and supplies Friendly customer service attitude Basic English communication skills required Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, especially around holidays and events Weekend and holiday availability is preferred Willingness to learn flower care, flower processing, and basic floral design techniques Schedule Part-time position.
