Part Time Experienced Floral Designer

In Bloom Florals is a retail flower, plant, and gift shop based in downtown Canandaigua. We are looking for a part time, experienced floral designer (1-3 years of experience is required). The work schedule will typically be Wednesday-Friday 10-4 & Saturday 10-2. Hourly rate is $17.50

• 25/hour based on experience.

Job responsibilities to likely include flower processing, retail and event floral design, daily and event flower deliveries and set ups, merchandising & visual display, plant potting and plant care, cleaning and tidying up the shop, taking orders over the phone and in person, helping customers, unpacking and pricing merchandise, etc. This is a physically demanding job that requires:

• the ability to lift and move 30 lb buckets and boxes of flowers with ease. Breaking down boxes, taking out the trash, efficiently loading the delivery vehicles, etc. The ability to walk up and down flights of stairs several times per day (the store is 2 stories).
• the flower processing skills to efficiently condition and process bulk flowers received from the wholesaler, organizing them in buckets and vases, noting missing or damaged inventory.
• floral design skills: efficient, artful ability to make wrapped bouquets, floral arrangements, centerpieces, bridal bouquets, corsages, boutonnières, arbor florals, sympathy arrangements, etc.
• organizational skills for pulling rentals and inventory for orders, pricing out floral arrangements, organizing inventory, merchandising the store, etc.
• drivers license and dependable transportation.
• basic cleaning skills (sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, organizing).
